FAQ Genie — Frequently asked questions

Grounded store FAQs for Shopify — built only from facts you actually have, published with FAQPage JSON-LD so AI assistants can cite your store.

What does FAQ Genie do?

FAQ Genie builds store FAQs grounded only in the facts you actually have — shipping time and cost, returns, cash on delivery, payment methods and warranty. It then lets you publish that FAQ content, plus FAQPage JSON-LD structured data, onto a page of your Shopify store so shoppers and AI shopping assistants (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Copilot, Shopify's agentic storefront) can read your own answers.

How do I set it up?

Install the app from the Shopify App Store, then open FAQ Genie in your admin. It reads your existing shop policies and settings and imports the facts it can find. Fill in any missing facts on the Facts tab, click Rebuild to generate a grounded FAQ set, review it, and then click Publish to put the FAQ page and its JSON-LD on your store. Undo restores your store to how it was before FAQ Genie first published: a page we created is deleted, and a page that already existed gets its original body back.

Does it use AI, and is my store data sent to an AI provider?

No. FAQ Genie does not send your store data to any external AI or large-language-model provider. FAQ answers are produced by a deterministic, rule-based template engine that runs inside our own service — each answer is built directly from a fact you confirmed, and a fact you have not set produces no FAQ. The app never invents an answer. The FAQPage JSON-LD it publishes is an AI-citation entity signal that helps AI assistants and search engines cite your public store page; it is not a FAQ rich-result claim (Google retired FAQ rich results in 2026).

What customer data does FAQ Genie access?

None. FAQ Genie is Protected Customer Data Level 0. It uses only read_products, read_content, write_content, read_online_store_pages and write_online_store_pages — enough to read your shop policies and settings and to write your FAQ page. It never reads orders, customers, or checkouts.

Are the generated FAQs published automatically?

On the Free plan, publishing to your store always requires your action — generated FAQs stay as drafts until you click Publish. On the Pro and Scale plans, if you have already published your FAQ page once, the app can automatically re-publish the refreshed set when your shop policies change, so the live page stays in sync. It never auto-publishes an empty set, and a merchant-initiated rebuild never auto-publishes.

What is free and what do the paid plans cost?

Free is $0/month and includes up to 20 rebuilds of your FAQ set per calendar month. One rebuild regenerates the whole set, however many FAQs that is — it is not a count of individual FAQs. Pro is $19/month and includes up to 200 rebuilds, plus hands-off re-publishing of a page you have already published. Scale is $39/month and includes up to 1,000 rebuilds plus scheduled refresh (a periodic rebuild that runs on our worker's timer). Only rebuilds you start count against the quota — automatic ones do not. Paid plans include a 7-day free trial, are billed through Shopify in US dollars on a 30-day cycle, and you can change or cancel anytime.

What happens when I uninstall, and how is GDPR handled?

You can uninstall FAQ Genie anytime from your Shopify admin. We honor Shopify's mandatory GDPR webhooks. Because we hold no customer data, the customer data-request and redact webhooks have nothing to return or redact. On shop/redact (sent after uninstall) every record we keep about your shop — facts, FAQ sets, billing and logs — is deleted. Your published FAQ page content stays on your store unless you remove it, since it lives in your own Shopify store.
